The breeding facility is located in the Northern Cape close to the town of Upington, where it was moved from Green Dogs Conservation in Limpopo Province in 2023. The new Irwin’s Guardian Stud facility was funded by Wildlife Warriors and Toerbroers. The Irwin’s Guardian Stud has now been operating successfully for several years providing livestock guardian dog puppies for placement on farms within the cheetah range in South Africa.
The Irwin’s Guardian Stud is managed and overseen on behalf of the Cheetah Outreach Trust South Africa by Hannelie Liebenberg of the Hanrie Trust who has years of experience in breeding Anatolian Shepherds.
There are five Anatolian Shepherd Dog breeding dogs currently at the facility, two males (Torres and Morrison) and three females (Ester, Compton, and Tiaki). A young male (Scout) that will be used as a breeding male is currently at the Cheetah Outreach Facility in Somerset West, and he will be moved to the Irwin’s Guardian Stud in 2024.
Ultra Pet provides feeding support to the breeding dogs and puppies at the facility, Virbac South Africa provides the necessary microchips, vaccinations, and deworming, and Bravecto SA provides tick and flea treatment for the breeding dogs and puppies at the facility and after their placements on farms.
